Letter to Stephen Smith, 1845, October 10.

Facsimile of a letter from Miguel de Pedrorena to Captain Stephen Smith regarding "Sunday merchandise" from the Brig Corsair. De Pedrorena writes that he could not adjust the account on the cargo because it had been combined with cargo from the Brig Juan Jose and other ships, but that he would be responsible for the whole amount of the sales.

Miguel de Pedrorena (c.1808-1850), a native of Spain who had been educated in London, arrived in San Diego in 1845. He owned the Cajon Rancho and San Jacinto Nuevo Rancho, in addition to other land throughout San Diego. He supported the United States in the Mexican-American War and served as a cavalry captain, and was U.S. customs collector from 1847-1848.
